On 15 January 2026, the HKMSS collaborated with the Paediatric Neurology Association of Hong Kong (PNAHK) to organize a scientific symposium titled ‘From Paediatrics to Adulthood: From Paediatrics to Adulthood: Optimizing MS Management Across Lifespan ‘. The symposium was co-chaired by Dr. Jacky Lee of our council, and Dr. Sharon Fung of PNAHK.
Our invited overseas guest speaker was Prof. Bianca Weinstock-Guttman from the State University of New York, USA, who gave us a comprehensive review on MS management, starting from the paediatric age group, across adulthood, and finally in the elderly population. She highlighted the challenges in DMT choices based on individual profiles, especially in pre-puberty patients and adolescents.
Four local were then shared, with Prof. Weinstock-Guttman, Dr. Eva Fung and Dr. Jacky Lee as panelists. The three paediatric cases were shared by Dr. Karen Yam, Dr. Nelson Mak and Dr. Mario Chak, while one adult case was shared by Dr. James Cheung. The cases illustrated the difficulty in managing cases with atypical or aggressive clinical profiles, and the need to choose DMT based on individual needs.
