HKMSS Council

On 23 May, to commemorate World MS Day 2026, the HKMSS once again collaborated with the HKNMDA to organize an MS health talk and workshop at Duke Of Windsor Social Services Building, Hong Kong.

This year, the talk was given by our council’s Dr. Joseph Choi, titled ‘自我檢察MS的隱形進展:藏在日常細節的訊號 ‘. The talk began with a brief review on what is MS; followed by the relatively new concepts of SAW (smouldering-associated worsening), and PIRA (progression independent of relapse activity).

A questionnaire based format was then used to go through the various aspects in the daily life of an MS patient, focusing what they may experience in terms of cognitive and physical symptoms. Dr. Joseph Choi provided tips on how to communicate these to doctors, and how to manage them as part of daily life.

The talk was followed by a Q&A section. After the tea break, members of the HKNMDA also participated in a healing workshop through calligraphy. We would like to thank all of our participants for taking part in this event!
