On 18 June 2026, the HKMSS collaborated with the Hong Kong College of Radiologists to organize a scientific symposium titled ‘A Fous on New MRI Markers for MS Diagnosis’.
The opening remarks were delivered by our president Dr. Jessica Li. Our invited overseas speaker, Dr. Alex Rovira from Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron of Barcelona, then gave a talk on ‘Integrating the 2024 McDonald Criteria into Practice: A Focus on New MRI Markers for MS Diagnosis’. Being a specialist in neuroradiology, Prof. Rovira explained in depth how the new neurological features in the criteria, such as the central venous sign and paramagnetic rim lesion, can be best assessed and interpreted.
Dr. Carmen Lee from Prince of Wales Hospital and Dr. Dickson Han from Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital then shared two local cases, seeking Prof. Rovira’s expertise on the image interpretations. The closing remarks were given by Dr. Billy Lai, council member of the Hong Kong College of Radiologists.
We would like to thank Prof. Rovira for his enlightening talk, our local speakers for the wonderful sharing, and all of our participants for attending this event despite the black rainstorm warning signal! Our society is also most honored that Prof. Rovira has agreed to be our honorary fellow!
