On 30 May 2017, the HKMSS held a press conference at the Duke Windsor Social Service Building to commemorate the 2017 World MS Day.

To echo this year’s theme ‘Life with MS’, our society has collaborated with the HKNMDA to conduct an online patient survey in April 2017, exploring the perspectives of MS patients on their disease. At the press conference, our Vice-president Dr. Richard Li presented the findings of the survey, illustrating the needs of MS patients in four main categories: physical; psychological; socioeconomical; and treatment. Dr. Stephen Cheng of our council also gave a brief introduction on the background, epidemiology, and treatment of MS.

We were delighted to be joined by two young MS patients, who bravely shared their story with the press not only via a specially-made video clip, titled ‘夢與病飛行’, but also in person at the press conference. We hope that their true experience can help the public understand more about the thoughts and needs of MS patients, and that MS patients, despite their illness, should stay positive, ‘life with MS’, and continue to chase after their dreams.

Our society would also like to thank Tony, the Vice president of the HKNMDA, for introducing the works of their organization at the press conference. Let us all lend a hand to fight MS and help patients ‘live with MS’!
