Introduction of the novel drug targets in Multiple sclerosis
At the Lunch Symposium titled ‘Introduction of the novel drug targets in Multiple sclerosis’ on 12 Nov, Prof. Antonio Uccelli from the University of Genoa, Italy, first enlightened us on the latest immunological understandings of the pathophysiology of multiple sclerosis, which would at times call for earlier aggressive treatment modalities. He then gave an overview of the latest big guns in MS treatment, including Alemtuzumab, Ocrelizumab and Cladribine.
Updates on Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders
In the afternoon MS Symposium, Prof. Friedemann Paul from the NeuroCure Clinical Research Center, Berlin, gave us a very comprehensive overview on ‘Updates on Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders’, in which he shared with us his practice and insights in diagnosing and managing NMOSD.
Ethnic differences in NMOSD
Our council member Dr. Jessica Li then shared her overseas experience in the UK, and reviewed the ethnic differences in NMOSD.
Epidemiological data of NMOSD and the HKMSS NMOSD Registry
Last but not least, our chairlady, Dr. Winnie Wong, reviewed the epidemiological data of NMOSD in China, and presented the preliminary findings from the HKMSS NMOSD Registry.
We would like to thank our overseas speakers, council members and all our participants for making the Congress a success.
