World MS Day Event
World MS Day 2019: 讓我飛出去,身體工作坊
Each year, to celebrate the World MS Day, the HKMSS would organize Press Conferences or other activities to raise the public’s awareness towards Multiple Sclerosis. This year, the World MS Day theme is #MyInvisibleMS, and the council has decided to host a patient-centered event named ‘讓我飛出去,身體工作坊’. We invited a guest tutor from 身體遊樂場, 小月老師, who was an expert in helping people move about more and learn more about their bodies. The event was held on 9 Jun 2019 at D2 Place of Lai Chi Kok, with over 50 participants, mostly local MS patients and some of their carers along with our council members.
Under the guidance of 小月老師, participants were encouraged to experience movement of their bodies in new and innovative ways, learning to become more in tune with themselves and how to express themselves better. A mini-workshop was also set up, allowing participants to write down their hopes and wishes, either on paper airplanes or paper cards which are then used to decorate a wishing board.
Patient talk
Our chairman, Dr. Richard Li, gave a talk on Multiple Sclerosis, highlighting the invisible symptoms MS patients experience, and the latest treatment options of MS.

Finally, the event concluded with a group photo, with every participant hurling out the paper airplanes made at the mini-workshop, symbolizing the good omen of ‘free your body and let your hope that flight’.
We hope that our participants enjoyed this novel activity, and we would like to thank 小月老師 and the HKNMDA for co-organizing this event.
