On 2 October 2021, the HKMSS organized a Neurology Expert Meeting titled ‘Ofatumumab and the Future of MS Management’. Chaired by our past president Dr. KH Chan, the meeting was held at JW Marriott Hotel and attended by our council as well as other local MS specialists. The invited overseas speaker was Prof. Michael Barnett from the University of Sydney, Australia, who joined us virtually.
Prof. Barnett’s first talk covered the basics and key clinical findings about Ofatumumab, while his second talk used real cases to illustrate the practice of using B-cell therapy for MS in Australia. Dr. KH Chan then shared 3 local cases in which B-cell therapies were also used as disease modifying agents. Afterwards, we had a fruitful discussion on the practical issues related to commencing B-cell therapy and their management in MS patients.
